North East Festival in Delhi - A musical, gastronomic & cultural delight

Last weekend, North East Festival was concluded at IGNCA (Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts). All Northern states of India had representation at the festival in various forms. Such festivals are great opportunities for folks to know about culture, music & food of a particular region. We visited the Festival on last day and got to check out some of the stalls installed by folks from Arunachal Pradesh , Assam , Meghalaya , Manipur , Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura . During the evenings, different bands from these states perform at North East Festival. Whole IGNCA was full of people and everyone was enjoying the music.Usually whole IGNCA campus is divided into different parts - Exhibition ground, Food court, Art & Culture, Shopping area and stage for musical events. Whole area is very well decorated with colorful flags and some of the local handicraft from these beautiful states of India.Me in Naga dress :) . That was fun to click around these cut-outs.There were few art exhibitions around the festival ground. But I mainly loved the food court, where we could try various cuisines of these states. This was first time, I tried to duck curry and it was completely different than what I had expected. After our dinner at North East Festival, we chose to have tea at Chayos and it was not as exciting experience as I perceived from feedback from known people around me. Not sure if it was about the place or what.Such Festivals makes me feel good about Delhi. Delhi offers you great opportunities to explore different things from various parts of the country. I have never been to North East and this festival inspired me to explore North Eastern state of India. But at the same time, I realized that lot of time is required to really explore these parts of our country.
