Saturday Morning Drive from Noida to Churu, Rajasthan || A Road Review

For last few weeks, we were excited about this trip to Churu. Two weeks back we couldn't make it because of health issues and time came today to pakc our bags again & start the drive for Churu, which is a town in colorful state of India - Rajasthan. The place is yet to be explored, but here is a quick account on the drive form Noida to Churu. We started from Noida at 5am and had to take a quick stop at Adobe (my office), to pick the directions print-outs and withdraw some cash from the AMT we have in our office. Instead of Kalindi Kunj route, we took DND and took Mehrauli route to hit Gurgaon and then National Highway 8. We were on National highway 8 pretty soon. After crossing the toll, there was some construciton happening to traffic was moving slowly. This happened for 4 kilometers and the we hit Dharuhera after crossing Manesar. Approximately 5 Kilometers after Dharuhera, there was a slight right off NH8 for Rewari. We took that and went straight to hit Rewari town.It was a drive of 14 kilometers approximately with a nice road with countable speedbreakers. In Rewari city is pretty tight and there were hardly any directions. In fact, Google Map also confused us a lot. Having two maps at the same time increased the confusion and we eneded up spending 10 minutes in identifying the right path to go towards Narnaul. Finally we hit a roundabout where we found a flyover on the left side which landed us on a very good road towards Narnaul, although it was like a short sweet-dream. This road heads straight to Narnaul, which was around 54 Kilometers from Rewari. This stretch from Rewari to Narnaul took most time w.r.t. distance we covered. It was the worst road-stretch of this trip. Just after 10 kilometers drive, we were badly frustrated by seeing the bad patches and holes in the road. We thought of stopping at one of the dhaba and take a quick break. We enjoyed Ginger tea with Paranthas to change our mood and it worked well for us :) ... After the most painful ride, we were badly depressed and had started thinking about the time we would reach Churu. Speed was very bad on this road and it was already 11am when we hit Narnaul town.As we reached Narnaul we came across a big crossing and headed straight from there. Within town, we had to confirm with local people about the route, to ensure that we don't loose right directions. At this point of time, we were very worried about the road conditions. Just after the town, 2 kilometers stretch was completely rough. Whole road was taken off to make it again. Again the bad drive demanded a quick tea break which we took at Chandni Midway is was after Kilometers drive from Narnaul. Chandni Midway was on our left, which has a decent restaurant and a shop with various Rajasthani stuff, but very expensive. Our next target was hitting Singhana which was 30 kilometers from this placeAs we entered Singhana, we reached a point where the road bifurcated. And the turn on right took us towards the next destination called Chirawa, which was 26 Kilometers. On the way we noticed dramatic change in road conditions. Now that we were in Rajasthan, roads were awesome and very smooth. There were three tolls on the way from Singhana to Churu but all were worth and in fact, very reasonable as compared to toll-fees we pay in Punjab. On hitting Chirawa, we took a left. After turning, drove straight along the main road and had to hit Jhunjhunu, which was 27 Kilometers. Before hitting Jhunjhunu, we got to know that road is under construction and to hit jhunjhunu, we had to take a detour. After asking more details, we figured out that we need not to go to Jhunjhunu town now and can follow the bypass to go towards Churu.Roads around Jhunjhunu were not that great but it was very small stretch, so was not a real pain for us.Now Churu was just 45 kilometers and it was straight road. We crossed through Bissau on the way. And this road was very beautiful. We had started sensing the reach of deserts in this region. Just kept going along the main road. Just before entering Churu, we reached a small roundabout where we headed left. (There is a temple on the left here). Headed 3 Kilometerss on this road towards Churu Town. This road was also under maintenance and there were two Railway crossings on the way.As we entered Churu, we reached at a Red tower in middle of the road. At this roundabout, took a right to head inside City. Now we were in continuous touch with Deepak, who was our contact person at Malji ka Kamara. So kept driving 1 Km. We crossed a cinema on our left after which the road descended in the market. After desdending, there is a left turn which hardly looked like a road. It was a narrow street, which made us realize that how the Churu town is built and the way people live in these streets with huge Havelis all around. After few seconds of drive inside the street we hit Malji Ka Kamra on our left, the final destination.Overall drive was quite good. It took 7 hours to reach Churu and all delay is because of worse roads in Haryana Region. At max we can take out 30 minutes, which we spent in deciding right routes on the way. Churu was an exciting destination and we had fun there. More stuff will be shared on PHOTO JOURNEY soon, so keep watching space to know more about huge Havelis and Heritage of Churu.

As we entered Singhana, we reached a point where the road bifurcated.

You could have stayed the night before at Rohini and then taken Rohtak Road / Chakri Dadri / Churu. shorter and more country-side drive :-)

Never mind, it was always more fun and a great beginning for road trips. - Nandan
@Bhavna - As mentioned earlier, for weekend trip Train would be best and timings are perfect to make best of the time available.

@Nitin - I love snow.. see if you can share some of your adventurous Photo Journeys with us.

@Nandan - Probably next time :) .. We loved this region and hope to plan few more visits to Mandawa and Shekhawati.

It was a great first road trip! I thoroughly enjoyed driving.

@Nandan - we had considered the Bahadurgarh->Rohtak->and onwards route, but google map showed that it would take approximately the same time as the Rewari route. That made us wonder about the road conditions on the Rohtak route. But now that you have recommended, we will try the route.
