Mandore is an ancient town and was known as 'Mandvyapur' in historic times. The town remained the seat to the Rathore Clan until 1459 AD, when Rao Jodha (Jodha of Madore) - a Rathore chief who united the surrounding region under his rule, shifted his capital to the City of Jodhpur.

The now ruined Mandore Fort, was and even now is a fine piece of architecture. A huge, now ruined temple is a highlight of the fort. The temple is surrounded with finely carved botanical designs, bird, animals and planets.
Mandore Garden, now house a government museum - 'Hall of Heroes', depicting popular folk heroes of the region and popular Hindu deities dating back to the 17th – 18th century and has 16 figures carved out of a single rock. Also known as the hall of demigods and demigoddesses. (a mere count of 330 million Devi and Devtas).
Today its extensive gardens with high rock terrace make it a popular local attraction, easily connected with Taxis and Buses, and opened for public from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm.
