Dalhousie Public School - A Great Boarding School in Himachal Pradesh, situated around perfect surroundings in Himalayas for learning, personal growth & a lot more !

I have been to Dalhousie many times and during last visit, I and Vibha planned to walk around Dalhousie Public School. This beautiful School is located on a huge hill on the road which connected Dalhousie with Khajjiar. This PHOTO JOURNEY shares some photographs of Dalhousie Public School in Himachal Pradesh. Above photograph gives a quick glimpse of the campus, but it's not the whole thing. Dalhousie Public School is spread over two hills around the town. This is one of the most popular boarding schools in Himachal Pradesh.Lot of kids from various parts of the country and abroad come here for studies. It definitely a great place to study and have fun around snow covered hills. It's quite peaceful place and weather is just awesome. When cities like Delhi are hot with 40-45 degrees, these kids wear their jackets in Dalhouise. Instead of Summer vacations, the school is closed for 2 months during winters. Dalhousie Public School has recently started 11th and 12th classes as well. Earlier it was a high school. This was unbelievable. A MIG is installed in the campus of Dalhousie Public School. I don't know much about why and how, but it really sounds interesting :). We were staying in the house you see in above photograph and we wanted to come to this place to ensure that it's real and not a model. Walking up till the student hotels, we realized that even 5 year old kids are also staying here without their parents. This was hard to imagine for us, but it seems that they enjoy being here with their friends and caring staff. Above photograph shows the main campus of the school with all offices and class-rooms. This is first building you see when coming from Dalhousie Town towards Khajjiar. There is approximately 1 km stretch of Dalhousie-Khajjiar road, which is beautifully maintained by Dalhousie Public School. Due to snowfall all the flowering plants had died but staff was actively working to make these pot happy with new plants. Principal's residence @ Dalhousie Public School. Like the whole campus of the school, residences of teachers and principal was quite nice. Here is a view of Ravi river from Teacher's residences. Ravi river looks stunning on a sunny day. The day we visited Dalhouise, it was rainy and cloudy.

Whenever I visit Dalhousie, I am impressed by campus of Dalhousie Public School. The campus of Dalhousie Public School is spread over multiple mountains around the town. There are so many things around the school and Dalhousie town that reminds you about great vision of the school for kids & local community. We have shared about Dalhousie Public School on the blog in past, but in this post we are attempting to take care of lot of questions folks asked on those posts and kind of searches our viewers made on the blog. Dalhousie Public School is located on a huge hill on the road which connects Dalhousie with Khajjiar. The School is approximately 1-2 kilometers from Gandhi Chowk of Dalhousie town. There is a wonderful walk from School campus to the Dalhousie market, popularly known as GPO (General Post Office). A significant stretch of the road around Dalhousie Public School is maintained very well and most likely school's willingness behind that is very important factor. And it's not only about road condition but the way both sides of the road are beautified. There are flowers on both sides of the road which are maintained by Dalhousie Public School. And there is a certain kind of flower pots used, which have vibrant colours. Such flower pots can also be seen around Dalhousie Mall Road, which tells that those are contributed by Dalhousie Public School. All these things show how this institution is trying to up-level beauty of the space and support the local community.

Dalhousie Public School is a senior secondary school, which means it offers 11th & 12th in various disciplines.

When other kids are on vacation during July, students of 11th and 12th are shifted to another beautiful facility near Chandigarh where their coaching continues for competitive exams.

Where is Dalhousie Public School Situated?

I think we shared a little about it above, but let us share there are there 2 main campuses of Dalhousie Public School. One and the oldest one is near Dalhousie town which is at a brilliant location with natural beauty all around and peaceful environment for studies.

There is another campus in place called Badhani, which is close to Pathankot and it's location close to the main road which connects Pathankot with Dalhousie.

How to take admission in Dalhousie Public School?

At the kindergarten level, students are admitted on the basis of the first-come, first-served for the numbers of seats available.

For classes above 1st standard, students have to appear for an entrance test. This test is held in the month of October/November every year, for admission in the following academic year. This test is one of the criterions to get admission and I am not very sure what other factors play a role in getting admission at DPS if you want to enter in classes above 1st.

If a student is selected to get admission in Dalhousie Public School, you receive a letter with appropriate details on next steps. One of the key step is to deposit first instalment of the fees within fifteen days of the receipt of the letter and then next process starts.

Specific details around Admission in Dalhousie Public School can be checked here

What is the fee structure at Dalhousie Public School and how it varies across classes/sessions?

Which one is better campus - DPS Dalhousie or DPS Badhani?

My personal favourite is certainly the one in Dalhousie due to it's location but don't have enough insights in terms of staff, facilities etc. From outside, Dalhousie campus looks more elaborate compared to the one in Badhani.

What is the ranking of Dalhousie Public School amongst all Boarding Schools in India?
