MTB Riders getting ready for second day Hiking and Biking

Hope you have already check other posts on MTB Himachal 2010 which talks about flag-off from Ridge ground, Rides during first day and some glimpses of this event... Today I am going to share some of the photographs of first morning(after camping) of this event... So here are few photographs of second day morning with some details about the activities around the camp side...

Although there was sunlight but it was too cold in the morning... Many of us were hesitating to have bath there but finally we got motivated after seeing hot water on other corner of the camping ground... I think you can make a guess that why people are standing behind these tents and nobody in the front... Coz everyone is looking for sunlight and no one can't afford to stand in shadows :-)

Mr. Dutta from Maharashtra assisting other rider in repairing the bike... Dutta ji, a passionate biker from Maharashtra who were bare feet throughout the journey... And you can also see that he is half T-Shirt... He is not worried about winters as he always lives like that irrespective of the season...

A very humble and calm guy... Nice to meet you Dutta Ji !!!

There were few folks who were leaving on second day... This includes some of the riders and few photographers... So everyone was saying bye to each other by getting appropriate details to be in touch... Here Runjhun (PHOTOQUEST participant) meeting Peter to say 'Good-Bye' and 'All the Best !'

Due to rough and muddy roads, all the riders needed to take proper care of their bikes.... everyone used to clean and repair their cycles everyday... I was amazed to see people repairing their bikes with ease... They used to disassemble their bikes and re-assemble again after cleaning and repairing... Many times they used to talk about various types of bikes, companies, gears and other accessories... although I was not able to relate to most of the stuff... The only thing I noticed was that Military people and Nepali gang had best bikes in the camp...

Folks are ready and just waiting for the final call from Marshals... Some of the riders are just warming up for the rides... On second day they had to ride till one point (?? KM) and then they had to cross a river to hike a mountain with their bikes.. This whole stretch of hiking was 12 Kilometers... It was very tiring... We were four  PHOTOQUEST participants who were together during this hiking session and all of us were down during the half way... Everyone was hungry and we were not carrying anything with us... On the way we asked for water at a local village an they gave us apples as well :-) ... Those Apples were amazing and now we had some energy to continue...  For rest of the story, I will share another post with Hike and Bike Photographs...

Here is a photograph of Shainj School where we stayed during first night of MTB Himachal 2010... Lovely place under blue sky and surrounded by hills... Nothing like it !!!

Here comes all the riders ready for various challenges of the day... The man in the front was a retired policeman and was there in MTB for first two days... When I asked "why two days?", he smiled and said "My Wife gave me permission for two days after lot of negotiations and I have to obey that :)"

Surbhit in Natural style...

Here we have Mr. Surbhit Saxena, a film-maker from mayavi nagari "Mumbai"... An extremely creative and interesting guy in th whole gang... For now, I will not share much details about Surbhit and watch out this blog to know more about him... I will be posting another thread about all Photographers in near Future...

All set to follow the riders...
