PV Cottages around Serenity Beach in Pondicherry || A Clean and Comfortable Homestay at a Great Location

As we travelled upward from Rmaeshwaram during our 14-day long trip from Noida to Rameshwaram and back via Eastern Ghats, Vijay and I were particularly excited about Pondicherry. It felt like the kind of place where we could just take long walks along the beach, enjoy some excellent food and drinks in a cool beachside cafe, and roam charming French streets flanked by beautiful colonial buildings. Did we find this all this? I will talk about that in some other post, but this one is about the homestay we stayed in.

As was our practice in this trip, we searched for a few viable options online in an area with several options and then head to the place and book the option that best suited our preferences. In case of Pondicherry, we had one additional preference - the option should be close to a beach. When we reached PV Cottages, our first reaction was that we do not want to book this place. For one, the owners had a huge dog with a booming bark, which seemed to be roaming around the premises. However, we soon found that the dog had free access to the portion of the house where the owner stayed, but not to the area where guests stayed. I like dogs, but am also afraid of them.

Also, the room that was available was on the ground floor and was clean and very spacious. Parking was available inside. Moreover, the property was walking distance from a very clean beach, known as the Serenity Beach. So we decided to take the available room. We looked at one property in Pondicherry and finalized that.

We tried to see if the room was available for two nights. We thought Pondicherry was the place where we could spend two nights (before this we had spent two nights at Rameshwaram). However, the room was not available on the next night. So we ended up spending just one night at Pondicherry. Overall the stay was good and we would definitely recommend the place if you are looking for a basic, clean, and comfortable room near a beach.

Brihadeeshwara Temple, also known as the Big Temple, is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in the town of Thanjavur in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Built in the 11th century by the Chola dynasty, the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the most famous and visited temples in India. This is one of our favourites places we explored during our 14 days road trip from Delhi to Rameshwaram.

On Day 3, when we landed in Madanapalle, Andhra Pradesh, after a really long drive and some last minute change in plans, we were really tired. And then we were also not sure whether the hotel we had identified on the internet would meet the priority 0 items in our list of requirements for night stays. Luckily it did. And we felt that we had earned a dinner. So we went out in search for it.
