Exploring Phuket Old Town and Surin Beach and then Back to Bangkok || 10-Day Vacation in Thailand (Day 7)

We had breakfast at our hotel and then went to the bus stand from where we would catch the bus for Phuket Bus Terminal 2. Once again, we found ourselves waiting for the pink bus, this time with our entire luggage. Thankfully we did not have to wait too long. The bus came soon enough. But it was crowded and we had to squeeze our way in. Once in though, we were so tightly packed that no amount of jerks managed to displace us.

One fact to be added here is that the seating in these buses isn't too comfortable. The seats are nothing but wooden benches without any backrest. So you really need to hold on to the seat or to the passenger next to you to prevent yourself from sliding off. The beach was clean and a lot emptier than any other Thai beaches we had visited so far. There were some water-scooters out there on the water and also a couple of para-sailing outfits. We walked around a little, but then realised that it was really hot. And we had had enough of the beaches by now. So we thought we would have some lunch before heading back to the town. From our experience at Kata beach, we thought that the food at these shacks would be reasonably priced, but that was not the case. This seemed to be a posh(er) beach and hence the price was high too. So we grabbed a couple of sandwiches from the 7-11 and that was our lunch. Our research had revealed that the architecture of this area is beautiful with Sino-Portuguese townhouses and quaint shops selling food, clothes, and miscellaneous other things. We found several pretty buildings and also quite a few interesting graffiti on the walls. On Sundays it seems you can also find a Sunday morning in these streets, but since we were here on a weekday, we missed it. Anyways, we were convinced that nothing would ever be able to compare against the Night market in Chiang Mai, so we were okay missing the Sunday market.
