On 23rd September' 2012, ADVAITA was celebrating it's 8th Birthday ay India Habitat Centre in Lodhi Estate, Delhi. Since I was also in town, so thought of visiting the place to enjoy music with ADVAITA & some of the artists from MRIGYA & PARIKRAMA. Since weather was good, it was fine with music lovers sitting there. Whole space was full and people were finding space on surrounding walls. For finding a place to sit, many of the IHC plants were destroyed. It was really sad to see people acting so cruelly with plants around AmphitheaterSuhail Yusuf Khan was playing Sarangi during most of the performances and sang some classical numbers in between. He was awesome at both the things. Then whole team of ADVAITA came on stage and thanked everyone to come & wait for them. It started with good mood and nice songs. ADVAITA is an eclectic music group from New Delhi, India. ADVAITA team borrowed their name from an ancient Indian philosophy, which translates to mean Non-Duality. Sharad Chandra Shrivastava of MRIGYA and Abhishek Mathur of ADVAITA on right !

Sharat is one of the founding members of MRIGYA Band and the driving force behind the band. Over the years, he has been instrumental in leading the direction of the music of Mrigya. As the violin maestro, he is considered to be one of the best young violinists in the country. Owing allegiance to the Senia Gharana, he has been extremely active on the performing circuit for over 2 decades.

His nascent talent, nurtured since age 7 by the renowned violinist Late Pandit Joi Srivastava, his Guru and grandfather, has lent him rare understanding of the 'Dhrupad-Ang', a style unique to this Gharana under the Guru-Shishya parampara. This and such grooming has put him on stage with the likes of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Pt. Birju Maharaj. As an acclaimed soloist, he was selected for the Sahitya Kala Parishad's coveted 'Yuva Mahotsava'. Sharad has also performed with a certain Mr. Gordon Sumner aka 'Sting' apart from playing with the acclaimed Indian rock band Parikrama for over a decade.

It was really sad to see people acting so cruelly with plants around AmphitheaterSuhail Yusuf Khan was playing Sarangi during most of the performances and sang some classical numbers in between. Rajat Prasanna shared the stage with ADVAITA at IHC and had a wonderful Flute  performance.

Rajat is born in the family of traditional legendary musicians of Benaras Gharana and he was fortunate to have the right environment for his latent musical talents to blossom. Right from the tender age of six years, Rajat is being learning Indian Classical Music and groomed under the kind guidance of his grandfather late Pandit Raghunath Prasanna & father Shri Ravi Shankar Prasanna. The music heritage has imbibed in him a very keen sense of sur and taal (Musical notes & Rhythm), with the result; various exponents of Indian Classical Music have applauded his public performances in musical sittings. A daily practice session from last fifteen years had enabled him to grasp and master the intricacies and have finer qualities of Indian Classical Music and developing a style that was respectful of tradition, yet full of innovation on Flute.

Arpan Guha Thakurta, who joined the stage with ADVAITA folks for few performances !

This Photo Journey shares some of the musical moments of ADVIATA Performances at IHC, Delhi...Chayan Adhikari & Suhail Yusuf Khan talking to each other during the performance..Aman Singh Rathore on Drums !This musical event had to start at 6pm in open Amphitheater of IHC, but as per Delhi trends it started after 7pm. Ujwal Nagar, The Classical Vocalist of ADVAITA was star of the evening for me. He was awesome and best at his role in the crew. Loved the way he sings and especially his performance in Ghir-Ghir... He looked like a shy personality, some of us were talking about the same :Surojeet Dev on Drums, while Prithveesh Dev was singing on the stage !Some guest performers were also invited during the evening. Nikhil Mawkin Nikhil Mawkin is a well known name in the music circuit in Delhi. He has made his mark in the music circuit with bands like Mawkin Revival and Cuenta Cuentos. Administrative glitches can be because of the nature of program. Many guest performers were invited and each of them needed specialized setup & time as well. But all of that was very well handled. During one of the gaps Chayan asked a boy to come on stage, who had come with a cardboard saying 'Happy Birthday Advaita'.
