On 11th Feb 2012, a TEDx Connaught Place happened at American Center on Kastoorba Gandhi Road. This Photo Journey is trying to share relevant information about this show with detailed information about Speakers and their ideas...Although Osama was last speaker of the evening, but I thought of sharing his Photograph first. I loved his talk and the work he is doing. Hope more people, who have come to Metros from small towns/villages, join hands with him to really accomplish the mission with more efficient way. Here is Mr. Osama Manzar on TEDx Connaught Place stage. He is a convert social entrepreneur spearheading the mission to overcome the information barrier between India’s rural sector, and the so-called developed society, through Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) –– which is a the not-for-profit organization founded to accomplish the mission; http://www.defindia.net. Selected & Participated in 'International Visitors Leadership Program' of USA State Department in September 2011.Piyush was first speaker of the evening and delivered one of the most matured talks during the evening. He shared his thoughts and work he is doing around Road Accidents. I really liked the way he has been executing his thoughts in partnership with local police departments. These days, thinking to work with the system for betterment is very courageous thing and can be extremely beneficial for whole society as a whole.  Piyush Tewari is the Founder & President of SaveLIFE Foundation (SLF), which is a non-profit, non-governmental organization focused on improving road safety and emergency care globally. Having started SLF while working at Calibrated Group, a US-based PE fund, as its Managing Director (India), Piyush is now devoting 100% time to SaveLIFE, and currently working to launch India’s largest road accident first-response service involving Police and community first-responders.Ishita’s passion for the environment and love for the mountains led her to found Ecosphere with a few like-minded individuals. An alumni of some of India’s premier institutes, Ishita has over the years been recognized as amongst India’s leading 50 social entrepreneurs. She was voted as a Youth Icon in 2008 by Mtv and a Real Hero in 2010 by CNN-IBN. She has also been recognized as an Ashoka Fellow for being a changemaker.Ecosphere is a social enterprise working in the high altitude cold desert valley of Spiti and the neighboring regions of Lahaul and Kinnaur linking conservation concerns to local economies. Ecosphere was awarded India’s first ever Sierra Club ‘Green Energy and Green Livelihoods Achievement Award’ in 2009, for its various initiatives and was nominated for the 2009 CNN-IBN Indian of the Year in the Public Service Category. For its work on responsible travel Ecosphere has been awarded the prestigious Virgin Holidays Responsible Tourism Award 2010 for Best in a Mountain Environment and the 2008 Wild Asia Responsible Tourism Award.Ishita's presentation was impressive with lovely Photographs from Spiti demonstrating different projects of EcoSphere and success stories. She operates in Spiti, Lahaul, Kaza & Kinnaur belt which is not accessible during winters. So she comes down to Delhi for 6 months and spend other half year in Spiti. A Girl with smile on her face and big dreams to achieve. We wish her all the best for future plans. At the same time, people asked her if she will continue working in Spiti area or will try to help other hilly regions of India. Mr Ajay Chaturvedi is Founder of HarVa. He is an ex-Citi where he served in Strategy and Sales positions in Cards and Consumer banking verticals.Ajay talked a lot of rural development, Agriculture and BPOs in rural India. He is mainly focusing on rural India to help Agriculturists in making decent money out of their traditional work, to avoid sale of Agricultural land to Realty companies or not utilizing the real power of acres of land they have. At the same, he is providing opportunities for village ladies who don't want to move out of their villages for earning money or doing some work. He is running few BPOs out of some villages of Haryana.Ajay begun his career with IBM Consulting in the US and has over 14 years of experience in Management, Operations and IT Consulting across Financial Services, IT and ITeS industries in US, UK, and South East Asia. Prior to Citi, Ajay was the Transition Leader at Global Vantedge, a company that was a pioneer in many ways besides being the first offshore receivables management provider. Ajay is an Engineer from BITS Pilani and a Graduate in Management of Technology from the School of Engineering and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.TEDx Connuaght Place in Delhi is Organized by Youth ki Awaz and American Center. This event started at 4:30 pm and last speech ended at around 9:30 pm.Tania James was raised in Louisville, Kentucky, after a brief stint in Chicago from 0 to 4. She graduated from Harvard University in 2003 with a bachelors degree in Visual and Environmental Studies (filmmaking).Tania James received her Masters of Fine Arts in fiction from Columbia’s School of the Arts in 2006. Her work has been published in One Story magazine, Guernica, Elle India, and The Louisville Courier Journal. Her debut novel ‘Atlas of Unknowns’ was shortlisted for the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature. She lives in Washington DC and teaches creative writing at George Washington UniversityThere was a snacks break between 8 sessions at TEDx Connaught Place, Delhi, IndiaThere was a B-Boying performance by a group and it was amazing as well !!!Here is a whole B-Boying team !!Pramada Menon is a queer feminist activist working on issues of social justice, gender, sexuality and human rights. She is the co-founder of CREA, an international women’s human rights organization and worked as the Director Programs of the organization from 2000 – 2008. Before CREA she was the Executive Director of Dastkar, an organization working to ensure sustainable livelihoods for craftspeople. Pramada is also a stand up performance artist and does a show Fat, Feminist and Free, which examines issues of gender, sexuality, sexual rights and body image.It was an interesting talk to listen. Her talk was mainly around the thought of Heterosexuality and acceptance of other free ideas around the Sex. She even raised the point that why type of Sex becomes eligibility for anything. From Childhood, we all are fed with stories around a Prince and Princess and then happy story keeps continuing. Stress was mainly of freedom of thought & activities for people who are not convinced very typical things happen in India Society. She also coordinates the Global Young Indian Professionals and Students, a group aimed to develop a stronger community of young Indian professionals and students, with the aim of furthering their professional development and facilitating their contribution to India’s political, social and economic development. She has also been awarded the Fulbright-Nehru Masters Fellowship for Leadership Development for the year 2012-13.Anoj is Milaap‘s man on the field; he builds and maintains relationships with microfinance institutions, social enterprises, and funders from the development sector. A Starting Bloc Fellow for 2010, Anoj co-founded Milaap after working with SKS Microfinance in energy and water services. He has also worked at ReEx Capital Asia, a cleantech investment boutique in Singapore and served as a fellow at D.light Design, developing consumer financing & mapping models for rural electrification.http://www.milaap.org/ Anoj's atlk was full of passion and Energy about the work he is doing. He got maximum claps after his speech during TEDx show on 11th Feb 2012 !!! And during this speech, he emphasized on fact that demand of needy loans is huge and supply is main problem he is trying to solve. Pramada is also a stand up performance artist and does a show Fat, Feminist and Free, which examines issues of gender, sexuality, sexual rights and body image.It was an interesting talk to listen. Her talk was mainly around the thought of Heterosexuality and acceptance of other free ideas around the Sex. She even raised the point that why type of Sex becomes eligibility for anything. Pramada is also a stand up performance artist and does a show Fat, Feminist and Free, which examines issues of gender, sexuality, sexual rights and body image.It was an interesting talk to listen. Her talk was mainly around the thought of Heterosexuality and acceptance of other free ideas around the Sex. She even raised the point that why type of Sex becomes eligibility for anything. From Childhood, we all are fed with stories around a Prince and Princess and then happy story keeps continuing. Stress was mainly of freedom of thought & activities for people who are not convinced very typical things happen in India Society. Her talk was mainly around the thought of Heterosexuality and acceptance of other free ideas around the Sex. She even raised the point that why type of Sex becomes eligibility for anything. Pramada is also a stand up performance artist and does a show Fat, Feminist and Free, which examines issues of gender, sexuality, sexual rights and body image.It was an interesting talk to listen. Her talk was mainly around the thought of Heterosexuality and acceptance of other free ideas around the Sex. She even raised the point that why type of Sex becomes eligibility for anything. It was an interesting talk to listen. Her talk was mainly around the thought of Heterosexuality and acceptance of other free ideas around the Sex. She even raised the point that why type of Sex becomes eligibility for anything. From Childhood, we all are fed with stories around a Prince and Princess and then happy story keeps continuing. Pramada is also a stand up performance artist and does a show Fat, Feminist and Free, which examines issues of gender, sexuality, sexual rights and body image.It was an interesting talk to listen. Her talk was mainly around the thought of Heterosexuality and acceptance of other free ideas around the Sex. She even raised the point that why type of Sex becomes eligibility for anything. From Childhood, we all are fed with stories around a Prince and Princess and then happy story keeps continuing. Stress was mainly of freedom of thought & activities for people who are not convinced very typical things happen in India Society. Before CREA she was the Executive Director of Dastkar, an organization working to ensure sustainable livelihoods for craftspeople. Pramada is also a stand up performance artist and does a show Fat, Feminist and Free, which examines issues of gender, sexuality, sexual rights and body image.It was an interesting talk to listen. Her talk was mainly around the thought of Heterosexuality and acceptance of other free ideas around the Sex. She even raised the point that why type of Sex becomes eligibility for anything. From Childhood, we all are fed with stories around a Prince and Princess and then happy story keeps continuing. Stress was mainly of freedom of thought & activities for people who are not convinced very typical things happen in India Society.
