Elegant Chaturbhuj Temple in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh || A beautiful temple standing tall among the green trees and lawns near Khajuraho

There are two main temples in the Southern Group of Temples in Khajuraho - Duladeo temple and Chaturbhuj Temple. The Duladeo temple is dedicated to Lord Shiv, whereas the Charturbhuj Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, who is also known as Chaturbhuj. This temple is also known as Jatakari temple as it is located in the village Jatakari near Khajuraho.

The main idol in the sanctum of the temple is a 2.7m tall statue of the four-armed Lord Vishnu. The temple stands on a modest podium (chabutara) and has a sanctum, vestibule, and Mandap. However, it lacks an ambulatory. The temple also has an small entrance porch. It has three bands of sculptures on its outer walls.

Sometimes you need to drive through fields or crowded villages, so distances may take longer or shorter to cover. The Southern Group of temples is definitely worth a visit, but you will find several vendors selling memorabilia. When we visited in 2021, the country was still recovering from a vicious wave of Delta variant of Covid. And these vendors were in a desperate condition, unlike the relatively prosperous ones near the Western Group of Temples. I do hope their situations have improved now.

Main places to see & Top things to do around Dalhousie : Stunning Hill Station in Himalayan State of India

  Dalhousie is one of the most popular Hill Stations in Himachal  and there is lot to explore around Dalhousie. This is small and very well maintained town in Chamba region of Himachal Pradesh . This Photo Journey shares some of the exciting places around Chamba and how to plan a good one day tour through Khajjiar, Chamba & Chamera etc. CHAMERA HYDROLIC PROJECT Chamera Hydroelectric Project is located in Banikhet, 7 kms from Dalhousie. The water body near the lake is very scenic and is a popular boating spot. Chamera Dam is around 40 kilometers from Chamba Town. It takes approximately 1.5 hrs to reach the place is road condition is good. Overall it’s a little dry terrain as compared to Dalhousie and Khajjiar. And temperature also goes up as we go towards Chamera Dam.  As you move out from Chamba town, you follow Ravi river for some time and then take right. After 45 minutes of drive, you get a glimpse of Chemera Dam.
