Why Train is best and cheapest way to commute between Bangkok & Temple Town of Thailand, Aayutthaya

In Thailand, Chiang Mai was our first destination to explore and then we wanted to go to Aayutthaya. We took flight from Chiang Mai to Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok and guess what - There is a train stop just outside Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok. This blogpost shares about Train journey from Bangkok to Aayutthaya and what are all places from where train can be taken for Aayutthaya. We would also be talking about other options to reach Aayutthaya from Bangkok or other main tourist cities of Thailand.

If you are landing at Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok and directly want to go to Aautthaya, Train can be a very awesome option especially when the waiting time is not huge. Whenever you plan, make sure there is a gap of at least 2 hrs between you landing and train departing. Now the obvious question where to check train schedule? Above photograph shows Donmuang Railway Station which is at walkable distance from Don Mueang Airport. And when I say walkable which is very convenient and has provision to drag your bags like you can do inside Airports or malls with great infrastructure. Donmuang Railway Station has two train lines, so it's very easy to find out where your train would stop - Platform-1 or Platform-2. Above photograph shows Ayutthaya Railway Station, which is small and beautiful. There are lot of Tuku-tuks marked on the back side of this railway station. It was a moment when we realised that lot of folks do a day trip to Ayutthaya and many of those Tuk-Tuks take you on day tours. We were there for 2 days and wanted to find a Tuktuk to drop us at our hotel. It was little hard but we found one at a good price of 50 Bahts, which was a decent price. Ayuttahaya is a small place so there is high probability that you will have drive of 10 mins to reach your hotel from railway station. The most authentic way and probably more comfortable way to reach Ayutthaya from Bangkok can be a train ride. The trains leave from Hualamphong Station in Bangkok’s city centre and they leave every hour or so. Isn't that awesome. The train takes around 1.5 hours and costs about 330 baht ($10) for first class. If you are feeling like a real traveler, jump on the 3rd class seats if they aren’t sold out, they go 20 baht (around $0.50!) but you can’t reserve, so show up and give it a shot. We had opted for the later one because we didn't want to advanced booking and as we reached the counter those were only options we had.

Main places to see & Top things to do around Dalhousie : Stunning Hill Station in Himalayan State of India

  Dalhousie is one of the most popular Hill Stations in Himachal  and there is lot to explore around Dalhousie. This is small and very well maintained town in Chamba region of Himachal Pradesh . This Photo Journey shares some of the exciting places around Chamba and how to plan a good one day tour through Khajjiar, Chamba & Chamera etc. CHAMERA HYDROLIC PROJECT Chamera Hydroelectric Project is located in Banikhet, 7 kms from Dalhousie. The water body near the lake is very scenic and is a popular boating spot. Chamera Dam is around 40 kilometers from Chamba Town. It takes approximately 1.5 hrs to reach the place is road condition is good. Overall it’s a little dry terrain as compared to Dalhousie and Khajjiar. And temperature also goes up as we go towards Chamera Dam.  As you move out from Chamba town, you follow Ravi river for some time and then take right. After 45 minutes of drive, you get a glimpse of Chemera Dam.
