The Great Indian Chai Experience || And Much More at Chaayos, Netaji Subhash Place, Pitampura

Call us neanderthals, but we had never entered a Chaayos before this. And now that we were in, we wanted to experience it all. We were happy and wanted to explore. The days leading up to our raid on Chaayos had been full of worry. One of us had been struggling with a stone in the salivary gland and it had to be removed with a very tricky and risky surgery. The surgery had gone well and we had enough reasons to celebrate. Being close to Max Hospital, Pitampura, Chaayos was the natural choice.

The ambience of the place was warm and welcoming and the staff was very sweet. We sat there for a while before we gave our order. We took in our surroundings and went through the menu in details. To be honest, it did look slightly expensive. Chaayos charges Rs. 89 for one Kulhad Chai and Rs. 199 for a Loaded Chicken Cheese Max. One can immediately see how Rs 89 for a Kulhad Chai is expensive, but to gauge the value for money for Loaded Chicken Cheese Max, we choose to compare it to a Roasted Chicken Sub at Subway. The Roasted Chicken Sub costs Rs 145 and it can be customized to your taste. You can add and remove dressings, Salad options, bread options, choose to have cheese etc. In short, you can make it as healthy or unhealthy as you want. So you can see that a Chaayos experience will definitely cost you more.

But what do you get in return? The ambience is much better than that of Subway and you get good chai and good food under one roof. Not only can you order the regular Kulhad Chai, you can also get Kashmiri kahwa, Kangra Chai, and Masala Chai Frappes in various flavours. We ordered a kahwa, a Kulhad Chai, a Cinnamon Masala Chai Frappe, a Loaded Chicken Cheese Max and a Pakoda Basket. That may sound like a lot, but we were 4 people and were in the mood for celebration.

Taste-wise we liked the Kahwa the best, then the Kulhad Chai, and then the Iced Frappe. Both Cheese Max and Pakoda Basket were okay enough too. On the whole, we would go back because of the whole package, but not because we like a particular drink or a dish a lot and can't find the same taste anywhere else.

If you liked this post and found it helpful, I would request you to follow these things when traveling -

- Manage your waste well and don’t litter
- Use dustbins. Tell us if you went to a place and found it hard to locate a dustbin.
- Avoid bottle waters in hills. Usually you get clean water in hills and water bottles create lot of mess in our ecosystem.
- Say big no to plastic and avoid those unhealthy snacks packed in plastic bags. Rather buy fruits.
- Don't play loud blaring music in forests of jungle camps. You are a guest in that ecosystem and disturbing the locals (humans and animals) is not polite
