Can you imagine such a lovely morning in Delhi? - Cycling in lush green Sanjay Van, meeting passionate riders, Paranthas at Laxman Dhaba & lot more

We were in Goa when we got a call from 20:20 folks about Opera Cyclathon. Photographing Cyclists has been one of my favorite areas of interests ever since I shot first cycling event in 2010. At the same time, I was not sure if I would be able to join this gang of passionate cyclists because it was an early morning event and we had plans to reach Delhi a day before. Finally we joined and really loved this weekend morning. Let's check out this Photo Journey to know more about places we explored... Plan was to meet at Sanjay Van gate, which was close to Qutub Minar. It was 7:30 am when everyone reached the place. There were different cyclists from Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon & other cities in National Capital Region of India. Apart from cyclists, 20:20 team was there to take care of all logistics. Firefox van was there with different types of bikes. Opera Team and few bloggers were also there to witness this lovely event. After some time, Karan Bhujbal briefed everyone about the plan for that morning. Everyone had to ride towards Mehrauli Archeological park and then come back to Gate number 3 of Sanjay Van, which is just in front of IIFT in Qutub Institutional area. Riders started cycling towards Mehrauli Archeological Park. Soon after rain started and everyone of us were really worried about the same. Fortunately the drizzles slowed down with time and finally stopped by the time we reached Mehrauli Archeological Park which was hardly 4 kilometers from the starting point. Now it was time to explore the park with different tombs and water bodies. Apart from that there were many kids in different grounds of this park. Many of them were playing Cricket or football. Many families were there for jogging. It was really great to see so much action inside the park at around 8am, which most of us usually sleep on a Sunday morning.Mehrauli Archaeological Park is an archaeological area spread over hundreds of acres in Mehrauli area of Delhi. This is adjacent to Qutub Minar World Heritage site and the Qutub complex. This region consists of over 100 historically significant monuments. It is the only area in Delhi which is known for 1000 years of continuous years of occupation and includes the ruins of Lal Kot built by Tomar Rajputs in 1060 CE, making it the oldest extant fort of Delhi and architectural relics of subsequent period, rule of Khalji dynasty, Tughlaq dynasty, Lodhi dynasty of Delhi Sultanate, Mughal Empire, and the British Raj. To know more about this place, check out - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mehrauli_Archaeological_ParEveryone of us explored Jamali Kamali Mosque and Quli Khan's Tomb. Apart from that there are some other interesting places inside the park.. Like Gandhak ki Baoli, Rajon Ki Baoli, a stepwell, and Madhi Masjid. Other near by monuments Jahaz Mahal, Zafar Mahal of Bahadur Shah II alias Lal Mahal, Hauz-i-Shamsi and Tomb of Adham Khan etcDuring this morning we met various bloggers and Opera folks operating in different parts of the country. There were some popular technology bloggers, who also joined the cycling gang to ride around this beautiful part of Delhi.Sanjay Van is a green forest of about 10 Square Kilometers in South Delhi. This is near Qutub Institutional Area, Mehrauli & Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Sanjay Van is probably one of the most thickly wooded area of Delhi. The area is one of the few recluses for bird watchers & nature enthusiasts in the city. Featuring a typical Aravalli landscape with thorny vegetation, one can hear the babblers creating their trademark sonic ruckus as soon as one enters from one of the many entries, followed by peahens gossiping in the corner as the peacock flaunts itself trotting nonchalantly along the trail. To know more about the place, check out : http://www.sodelhi.com/nature-wildlife/476-sanjay-vanAfter riding through Mehrauli Archeological Park and Sanjay Van, everyone gathered in front of IIFT, which is in Qutub Institutional Area. There is a popular Laxman Dhaba in front of IIFT building which was chosen for breakfast. Almost everyone had morning tea and delicious paranthas as Laxman Dhaba. This dhaba has a huge poster showing Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor having food at same plavce. We shall a separate post on that soon with some interesting facts :Overall it was a beautiful Sunday morning around one of the most green areas of the city...

The #DiscoverwithOpera cyclothon was organized by Opera Software to create more awareness and resonance with 'Discover', that appears to be a feature on some of their new products. Their recently launched 'Opera for Android' browser and Opera 15 browser for desktop, both have the discover feature that allows users to discover content more relevant to them.

Hey, I checked your blog and liked it. It seems you have been to many places in Himalayas and bird watching also excites you.

Last year, we spent a week around Pong Dam and I also felt in love with birds. Hope to visit your blog more often.

Thanks for sharing!
