Starting of Mountain Terrain Biking Himachal 2010 from Shimla on 23rd October @ Himachal Pradesh, INDIA

Its was morning of 23rd October and Ritz at Shimla(Himachal Pradesh, INDIA) was jammed with riders from various parts of the world... It was around 8:30 am when everyone was excited about this journey of 8 days to cover 500 kilometers and reaching heights of 3250 meters in Himalayas... Here are few photographs of 23rd Morning when MTB Himachal 2010 started...

Hercules was main partner in organizing this event... In the photograph above, all the riders are waiting for flag off by chief guest of the event... You can see the catholic church of Shimla in the background of this photograph....


Lot of media people were roaming around mall road and Ritz to cover this event... Here is a photograph of a journalist from Star News who is interviewing PADAM, who has won this race in 2008 and 2009... Padam is from Nepal and this time he got injured on second day of this race, which was very sad... But he was happy for his friends from Nepal and finally Ajay Pandit won... Padam had trained Ajay and he was very proud of that...


Local MLA of Shimla giving inspirational speech to all riders... although many of them were more excited about the starting of the free ride till Mashobara :)


She is Mayor of Shimla and participated as one of the main guests of starting event...
HASPTA organized this event and here is some information about the organization in their own words:

"Himalayan Adventure Sports & Tourism Promotion Association (HASTPA) was initiated by a group of like minded people from varied backgrounds and disciplines in October, 2004. The motivating factor for forming the organization was to promote holistic adventure tourism in the state of Himachal Pradesh, encompassing pertinent issues of sustainable tourism, such as livelihoods,  environment conservation, community based tourism etc."
