If you find yourself wandering down Broadway in Nashville and hear a thunder of guitars, laughter, and stomping boots echoing off the neon-lit buildings, you’re probably getting close to Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk & Rock ’n’ Roll Steakhouse.
I didn’t plan to spend my entire evening there — but once I stepped inside, I didn’t want to leave.
Five Floors of Southern Chaos
From the outside, it looks like one of the many massive venues that line Lower Broadway, but once you walk in, you quickly realize it’s on another level — literally. Five floors, each one with its own bar, vibe, and live band. It’s like a honky tonk festival stacked vertically.
The first floor is where the party kicks off — full-throttle live music, a buzzing crowd, and bartenders who serve drinks with flair. As I made my way up each level, the energy stayed high but the ambiance shifted:
The second and third floors had a slightly more relaxed feel, with booths where you could actually sit down and enjoy the music.
By the time I reached the rooftop bar, I was greeted with a stunning view of downtown Nashville lit up against the night sky.
The Steakhouse Twist
Now, I expected drinks and loud music — but the food surprised me. The place isn’t just about partying; it’s also a legit steakhouse.
I ordered the Tomahawk ribeye, and let me tell you, it was enormous, juicy, and packed with flavor. They also had Southern favorites like loaded nachos and crispy potato skins, which disappeared fast from our table.
If you’re drinking, they have fun, over-the-top cocktails too — I tried something called the “Detroit Mule,” which felt fitting given the venue's rock ‘n’ roll roots.
Nonstop Music, Nonstop Fun
One of the coolest things? There’s live music playing on every floor. And it’s not background noise — we’re talking full bands giving it their all. Some floors leaned toward classic country, others had Southern rock and blues, and I even caught a few surprise mashups that had the whole floor singing along.
And yes, I heard rumors Kid Rock himself sometimes shows up and jumps on stage. Didn’t happen while I was there, but you could feel his presence in the decor, the energy, and the “let’s party hard” attitude of the whole place.
Loud, Proud, and Unapologetically Rowdy
This isn’t a polished wine bar or a quiet jazz lounge. It’s unapologetically wild — the kind of place where bachelorette parties, die-hard country fans, and curious tourists all collide in a glorious, guitar-fueled mess.
By midnight, the rooftop was packed, the bartenders were still pouring fast, and no one showed any signs of slowing down. People were dancing on balconies, singing with strangers, and living up every minute. If Broadway is the heart of Nashville, Kid Rock’s honky tonk is the heartbeat after dark.
A Few Words of Advice
If you’re planning to go:
Come early if you want a table or seat — this place fills up fast, especially on weekends.
Wear comfortable shoes — you’ll be climbing stairs, dancing, or both.
Don’t expect quiet conversations — this is not the spot for a subtle night out.
But if you're looking to dive headfirst into the honky tonk scene, eat a steak as big as your head, and dance like nobody’s watching to some truly killer live music — Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk delivers.
