Bay15 on rocky Beach Odxel of Goa - An interesting place for food and fun, but not sure about staying here

During our office visit to Goa, we had planned one evening at Bay 15 which is situated on Odxel beach around Dona Paula area of Goa. This blogpost shares more about Bay-15, it's surroundings, services, food, music and other relevant details along with my viewpoint about the celebrations with approx 100 people in their restaurant. Let's get started.

When we reached the place, it looked like a huge space. Before reaching Bay-15, I thought it's a beachside restro-bar where are going to have fun. But it looked very different and space-wise a huge compound. After waling around and exploring the beach-side, I realised that it's a resort where people stay as well. The immediate thought in my mind was - why people stay in a resort which is in front of rocky beach, but it's personal choice and may be I am unable to appreciate the importance of rocky beach. My personal choice will always be a sandy beach, where I can walk barefeet, go into the water to enjoy splashes and may be go a little deep. All that sounds impossible on the beach in front of Bay15, as the rocks and small rock-pieces can hurt you.

Anyways, it was monsoon day with nice wind and a decent sunset. Most of us grabbed our drinks and stepped out to stand around the edge to witness the setting sun with waves in the foreground making some soothing sounds. Monsoon clouds around Bay-15 were trying to scare us a little but all of us were brave and ready to party. This was also the time of the evening when live music was being played at Bay-15 and both the singers were too good. The video below will give you some flavour about the live music at Bay-15. Sorry for bad video as I was standing out when I shot this one. Related Blogpost - Interesting rock-dwellers on the beaches of Goa

Soon after the live music, DJ came and rocked the place. Organisers from our side had ensured that the music is 'inclusive' and different kinds of regional music is played. I can confidently say that people enjoyed it a lot and danced till very late. As usual, everyone wanted to continue the dance party but music was only allowed till 10pm, so loud music was stopped by that time.

When I am writing this blogpost, I am realising that I didn't click much at Bay15 and that may also mean that I had good time talking to people, enjoying food/drinks etc. I loved the food at Bay15. Amongst all food options I tried during this trip in Goa, I found Bay15 food the best. Without going into much details, the food was very well made, served and flavourful. So here I recommend this place for having a good meal on the seaside. One can plan lunch or dinner. With a disclaimer that I don't have any clue how this place looks on usual days in terms of ambience and setup, as setups/ambience is perceived differently when you have whole place for yourself.

Apart from food, drinks and fun part, I liked the amount of space Bay15 has. It's a stunning looking property in Goa with ample space to walk around. When I say this, please don't compare it with spacious resorts of South Goa which has huge sandy beaches.

Overall we had good time at Bay15 in Goa. Will I repeat it? I don't think so, as Goa as so many other places to explore :).

Different beaches come to our mind when we think about Goa, but Goa has many other interesting things to explore. And Old Goa has some of the beautiful architecture which takes you to a very different world. In this particular post, we are talking about two main churches situated in Old Goa - 'Se Cathedral' & 'Basilica of Bom Jesus'.The very first photograph of this Photo Journey shows entry to the Basilica of Bom Jesus which is located in old part of Goa. The Vasilica of Bom jesus is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Basilica holds the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier. There aresome very interesting facts associated with this place and we recommend to find a guide to walk you through some of the interesting elements of The Basalica. It was third day of our Goa Trip, when we though of exploring Southern part of Goa. Old Goa is in southern region. From Panjim, one needs to drive through Goa Institute of Management to reach Se Catheral and Basilica of Bom Jesus. Both of these campuses are nearby and at walking distance. So we parked our car near Se Cathedral. Spent some time around the Cathedral and then walked to the Basilica.Se Cathedral is also known as The Se Catedral de Santa Catarina. This is the cathedral of the Latin Rite Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Goa. Supposedly it's considered as the largest church in India, which is dedicated to Catherine of Alexandria. Se Cathedral is one of the oldest and most celebrated religious buildings in Goa and is one of the largest churches in Asia as well.Above photograph shows the view of Cathedral from Basilica of Bom Jesus. Both of these are located across the road in Old Goa. Above photograph shows interiors of the Basilica of Bom Jesus. This church is located in Old Goa, which was the capital of Goa in the early days of Portuguese rule. 'Bom Jesus' name is used for the infant Jesus. The church is India’s first minor basilica which is considered to be one of the best examples of baroque architecture in India.Another view of Cathedral from Basilica. Cathedral's tower has a large bell which is popularly known as the 'Golden Bell' on account of its rich tone. There is an altar, which is dedicated to Catherine of Alexandria and there are various old paintings on both the sides. On the right hand side, there is a Chapel of the Cross of Miracles. Check out more about this cathedral at - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Se_CathedralIf I try to summarize overall experience of Old Goa, it was more about Portuguese architecture. Both Se cathedral and Basilica of Bom Jesus are in a huge area and very well maintained. Both of these are very high buildings with some of the cool painting and sculptures. To me the marvelous architecture was beautiful thing to explore in Old Goahe architectural style of the Se Cathedral is Portuguese-Manueline. The exterior is Tuscan, whereas the interior is Corinthian. The church is very long &approximately 250 feet. And the breadth is bit more than 180 feet. Architecture was something that I could appreciate the most around this place & old Goa.This was shot inside the Basilica of Bom Jesus and wikipedia has very intersting details about it's architecture, which we missed exploring during the visit. Actually we had to go to Spice plantation on same day and didn't want to miss because of timings.
